I think LBJ gives him some competition, in the context of the times, at least.

Maybe, but I'm having a very difficult time getting past the $800 Billion "stimulus" bill. This adds $100 Million a DAY to the interest burden for future taxpayers, and frankly, I'm not a believer that a country can spend its way into prosperity. Out of a recession, maybe. But in the long run it is not healthy for the country.

It is my belief that the stimulus actually made the recession WORSE, rather than better. While it is possible to do stimulus in a way that at least provides some relief, the way they did this one doesn't do this.

The most alarming thing about yesterday's employment data is the number who just gave up looking (and thus dropped out of the labor force). If you take that into account, the unemployment picture is far worse than the 9.8% suggests. We all know that unemployment is lagging, but until you start having these people re-enter the labor force, there is nothing to be excited about. The orders data only adds to the concern.

And he hasn't given up on cap and trade, which is another looming problem.

I have a sense that we're going to get very expensive, ineffectual health care reform shoved down our throats in the wee hours of some morning. I hope I'm wrong. But then, they could come along and do the same with cap and trade.

I hear you. And in no way would I minimize the LBJ spending. But I think Obama means business when it comes to spending and without any restraint from the legislative branch, I'm concerned they're just getting started.
