Michael,
You can always draw out cash, if not you need another broker. But if you have a short position you still have to have the correct ratio of equity in your account to cover your positions that are still on the books. I could be wrong as I'm just a TexasDude that on occasion has to drop the "e" (:>)

Michael, You cannot get your $$$ out from Datek any time on a short sale, you must wait 3 days. I just checked with Datek on this point earlier this week.
