They are being selective now, you being a conspicuously non threatening type of person.. Being old and white does not hurt either :o) or perhaps depends on who you run into.. Couple of months back, out east, one actor from India entered US to attend a cultural event in New York.. Now this actor so happens is probably the most famous face in India.. No exaggeration to state that billion plus people know him and has a huge following overseas including US.. Adult to children know him and so happens there were a lot of people at the airport who knew him, even another US custom and immigration officer.. and basically vouched for him as to who he was.. But he was put thru a grilling for couple of hours and eventually had to call a politician in India who had to involve US Embassy level folks before he was allowed to go.. He was flagged because he is muslim and his last name is Khan.. He has been in US a number of times, last time for a period to shoot a movie, about treatment of muslims in US after 911.. Ironically, the name of the movie ? 'My name is Khan'
