Is it "Merkans" or "Merkins"? I always thought GWB meant the latter...

Given the open disdain American leaders have for their constituents (such as "my fellow Merkins"), I think any ambiguous use of the term by politician should be construed as "Merkin."

"merkin" (first use 1617) is a pubic wig, originally worn by prostitutes after shaving their genitalia.
