LONDON, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Shell International says the Anglo-Dutch oil
and gas group Royal Dutch/Shell has acquired 60 percent interest from
Veba Oel Kasachstan GmbH in the production sharing agreement for the
Temir block oilfield in Western Kazakhstan.
A Shell statement said that the deal, which has been approved by the
Kazakh authorities, leaves 40 percent in the hands of Veba Oel.
The Temir contract, originally signed by Elf in 1992, will run for a
second three-year exploration period with effect from Aug. 18, 1997,
Shell said.
Shell has created a new company called Temir Petroleum Development
BV, which will start work by drilling two appraisal and two exploration
wells.
