snowshoe, bingo, but you left out the really good bits:
- golf shall be renamed chuiwan independent.co.uk , reverting to what was
- grandkids able to speak mysterious language
- savings shall be in less familiar money
- refurbishment of churches and such into confucius temple will generate much employment
- voting for the communists will become very popular
- diet choices would be dominated by not exactly familiar dishes spiced less so,
- the most popular drinks would be mango lassi and soya milk, and, best of all

- we would no longer have to be concerned about globalization :0)

and you forgot what the required punishment for rebellion and various infractions be ...

a small surgical procedure that makes one's voice go high :0)

and after procedure, one can protect one's formerly dangly bits by placing them in a safe deposit box

crime rate would drop, world would be safer, and prison population would be quite docile, unnaturally content

Predictions of empire. Nearly 20 years ago, Japan was ascendant. Here is the future news from that era by Billy T James and Howard Morrison: youtube.com

Things didn't turn out quite like that. Now we are supposed to believe that China will do wonderful things other than crush dissent, murder fleeing people by shooting them in the back, and otherwise run a totalitarian empire, strutting around celebrating the wonders of Mao. There needs to be some dramatic cultural change before China's political system will have wide appeal.

They have got out of terrible poverty by working for low pay. There is a great deal of distance between cheap labour and leadership. Where is the China Qualcomm, Oracle, Microsoft, Affymetrix and swarms of other creative companies? How many swarms of science Nobel Prizes are going to China?

Too much is fake in China. The free world has wonderful real institutions like Wall Street financiers and money managers like Bernie Madoff. Until China can compete in a broader spectrum of being great than just cheap work, they'll remain an also-ran.
