"That works pretty well if you are not the innocent one being killed, but pretty much sucks if you are. "

An atty should never ask a question unless he already knows the answer. In this case you assume their were any innocents.

Gen 6: 5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Assuming one believes God created man, he has every right to mete out justice against evildoers. You, know, like we THINK we have the right to do in the ME as a country. And that ain't just the R's, it's the D's as well.

>>(a) the old testament god's wiping out every person on earth except one family as a good example of a vengeful god, and (b) modern judicial systems and their treatment of sex offenders, are the same subject?

You need to re-take Logic 101. <<

creating a world in which people had no chance to do right and then offing them for it.

the problem there is that this view is entirely out of context.

in context, god shortened the physical lives of an evil people, effectively expediting their resurrection into a much, much, much better world and will offer them redemption from their evil ways. see ezekiel 37 as an example specific to ancient israel.

in context, the apparent vengeance was actually an act of love and concern for the people being killed and fast forwarded to a peaceful world.
