I thought about asking all my friends in my email directories, but they already think I am kind of weird. I do recall that some people who had no business doing so were buying a couple of Kruggerands back about 1980. But all I see now are people responding to ads to sell gold items, and they are selling in many cases (I think) to pay down credit cards.

So far it looks like over 75% of people on SI are into gold in some way. The only thing that surprises me is the high percentage of people who have numismatic coins, though I guess that's one thing that even the New Dealers didn't take away.
