Thanks, Frank - This discussion (Latency War) may appear to be tangent (at the very least) to core matter on this thread. There's a reason for trolling through sites like NuclearPhynance, and investigating what, exactly we're networking and propagating at the speed of light. It seems to me that this is an appropriate time for us to question the underlying philosophy (or rational basis, if you will) on which we're predicating current and contemplated financial practices.

If the basis is wrong, then we're embedding a false construct and putting it on steroids. In that regard, I invite readers to listen to Benoit Mandelbrot, in a 2-part Financial Times interview:

In fact, Mandelbrot's condemnation of the probabilistic underpinnings in current practice predates, and goes even farther than Taleb's.
