The world is different in myriad ways and so are the people. But it really depends on what you are addressing regarding "difference"? Ability to survive sub zero temperatures (furnaces and special materials)? INability to survive localized food shortages (where there is food only miles and minutes away) because walking is really really slow and you can't carry much on your head?

We have certainly evolved because that is the one fundamental certainty in the universe.....CHANGE.

Descriptive qualifiers such as "better" are sometimes difficult to address rationally; but factual qualifiers such as "CAN WE RUN FASTER", or are our horsies bigger...are easily answered.
