My family gets very annoyed with me because I do not care much for celebrating my birthday. They want to make a big deal out of it and I just want it to be another day.

I like your attitude. My grumpiness is not an issue of importance, for sure. I think it comes from being maxed out and not being in control of defining what is and is not important. My dearly beloved does that.
