RE:CVX & COP divergence in stock price

Peeled off a few shares of Chevron Corp. (CVX) and bought more ConocoPhillips (COP). Over the past five years COP tracked the price of CVX but since September 2008 there has been a divergence to where CVX is now valued 40% more than COP.

I am not too sure why this is, perhaps because of COP's NG exposure or the lack of performance in their refinery division. As a result, I have been peeling off shares of CVX and buying shares of COP. I now have equal weights of both companies in the portfolio which now rank 3rd and 4th position in my top 10 holdings. COP's dividend was recently increased (10/09) and now yields 4% which is a 0.5% higher yield than CVX. Both companies are good core holdings and have performed well for me.
