I don't have a problem with this, neither does Obama apparently...but it's nibbling at the very edges.

Obama has flatly refused to consider it. Finally, when he saw the entire initiative was going down he said he'd get someone to "look at it".

But you're right -- that's nowhere near the entire solution.

The first thing you have to do is to totally forget the public option. The current "public options" (MC/MA) are what wrecked the system in the first place and have let the country in debt up to its earballs.

If the Left wanted to solve this problem it could be done, but the demagoguing of the issue has made this effort nothing but the subject of ridicule.

If they pass it, it will be without bipartisan support, and they will be forced to revisit it after the Ds are voted out next year.

I don't either. I think Obama should include a healthy medical malpractice reform as part of the package, just to shut the wingnuts up. The trail lawyers would howl, but if it was limited to medical malpractice they wouldn't howl that much.

But it would CALL the wingnuts. If they didn't support the package THEN, it would be clear to America that all they want to do is obstruct the process.
