Weststar Announces Yukon Work Programs Have Commenced

VANCOUVER, Oct. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Weststar Resources Corp. (TSX-V: WER, FKFRT: HN3) (the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has commenced a geophysical survey and sampling program on both the Golden Fox and McKinnon properties, located in the Yukon, Canada.

The Golden Fox claims consist of 50 claim units totaling approximately 2,500 hectares, and are situated on the eastern border of Underworld Resources' "Black Fox" property near the headwaters of Thistle Creek. The McKinnon property consists of 66 claims encompassing approximately 1,380 hectares located about 60 km northeast of Underworld Resources' "White Gold" property, and about 40 km due south of Dawson City, Yukon. The McKinnon property encompasses two historic gold occurrences: the McKinnon prospect (Yukon Minfile 115O-054) and the Fothergill prospect (Yukon Minfile 115O-054).

The Company also announces the resignation of Mr. Jerry Minni as director of the Company effective September 22, 2009. Management would like to thank Mr. Minni for his many years of service to the Company. Mr. Nav Dhaliwal has been appointed director in his place.

The Company also advises that the private placement of up to 7,500,000 units at $0.10 per unit announced August 20, 2009, is still proceeding. Each unit consists of one common share and one transferable share purchase warrant, each warrant exercisable into one additional common share at a price of $0.15 per share for a period of two years from the date of closing. Proceeds of the private placement will be used for general working capital. Finders' fees will be payable in whole or in part, in accordance with TSX Venture Exchange policy. As announced on September 10, 2009, the Company has already closed the first tranche of the financing for 1,725,000 units.
