In this particular case... I'd be willing to bet that a highly trained SWAT team would have never made the mistakes (shoot the homeowner who called 911 *six times*, first two in the back) that these responding beat officers seem to have.

Also, IMO, it's possible that all the blame should not rest on these particular officers who responded to the call. It seems that there was a SERIOUS BREAK DOWN (human error) elsewhere in the force, with the police communications. It seems that --- DESPITE THAT FACT BEING CLEARLY AND LOUDLY called to the attention of 911 --- the responding officers might have never been told that the homeowner had captured and was holding the intruder at gun point for the police to come and pick up.

IMO... that critical error shouldn't even be POSSIBLE.
