What other reason is there for this unprecedented secret meeting? You think Obama had him over for a beer? My guess? He asked him in to get information on how they scored different aspects of the program so that he had a clear understanding of how to design the bill to save the most money. But I don't claim to know that which is unknowable as you and your cronies consistently do (and are almost always wrong). Inode's in a tizzy because the 'good' general didn't go through the chain of command and so the president called him in on the carpet?? Poor baby......inode, not the general. What makes wingers think they can pull stunts like this with this president and get away with it?????

Here is a bunch of WA state/Seattle econ. indicators the local paper publishes I think once each month. It covers a whole range of economic issues and gives a sence of where the Seattle/WA economies are at. If WA state is one of the leaders moving out of the recession, and I am not sure it is, these indicators show some progress but we still have a long way to go. For an example, tourism and the convention biz are way, way down from last year: The Big Picture: signs still pointing to recovery, but how soon? seattletimes.nwsource.com

You think Obama called the head of CBO for an hour in to have this technical discussion? I don't know if you're just naive or you're this fcking stupid. Bush had his guys hide the projected cost of the Medicare drug bill from Congress until after they voted. Pure sleaze. How would Bush have done that and what makes you believe this? It doesn't matter -- Bush's Part D has been the most cost-effective piece of health care legislation on record. Because of the private involvement and competition, it has consistently come in massively under budget EVERY SINGLE YEAR. Not just under budget, but under each year's REVISED budget. BTW if it was secret how did you find out... and how do you know Bush didn't do the same thing?* The content of the meeting was secret. There was sparse mention in the media -- basically by FNC only. As part of my training on professional ethics, I was taught that a professional must not only play the part with ethical behavior, but must avoid ANY appearance of impropriety. That is, the mere appearance of impropriety is judged to be unethical behavior. While I don't fault Elmendorf -- you can't say "no" to the president's invitation -- it is also very difficult to say "no" to the president's request for other things. It was at the very least unethical behavior. Which is the reason such meetings have been exceedingly rare.
