First order...Patriots must go green.

Patriot Place to use 30% solar power

BALTIMORE - Constellation Energy Group will build a photovoltaic system to generate solar power at an entertainment complex adjacent to the New England Patriots’ stadium in Foxborough, Mass. The system will produce about 525 kilowatts at Patriot Place, the 1.3-million-square-foot entertainment, retail, and dining complex next to the NFL team’s Gillette Stadium. Topping seven roofs, the power system will supply about 30 percent of Patriot Place’s power.

Construction is expected to begin in late October and will require installation of about 2,800 photovoltaic panels. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the year, a spokesman said.

Constellation Energy estimates the system will prevent the release of more than 8,800 metric tons of carbon dioxide - the equivalent of removing more than 1,600 cars from the road for a year.

Speaker today will refute climate change fears

WINNIPEG — A controversial British climate-change skeptic who says global warming is a "global fraud" will speak at a Winnipeg luncheon today.

Christopher Monckton, who was a policy advisor to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, is not a scientist but has written many articles arguing that human-caused climate change is a "non-problem."

Monckton appeared as an expert witness in a British legal case in 2007, in which the High Court ruled that there are errors in Al Gore’s climate-change film An Inconvenient Truth and it cannot be shown to school children in the U.K. without "corrective guidance."

According to Wikipedia, Monckton is funding the distribution to schools of the documentary The Great Global Warming Swindle to counter Gore’s film.

The luncheon is at 11:45 a.m. at the Convention Centre.

Monckton’s topic is Apocalypse No: Global Warming is not a Global Crisis, but a Global Fraud.

Monckton is currently on a Canadian tour, sponsored by the Fraser Institute, the Winnipeg-based Frontier Centre for Public Policy and the Calgary-based Friends of Science. Friends of Science was exposed in 2006 as an oil industry front group after the Globe and Mail revealed the group’s complicated system of concealing its funding.

The Fraser Institute has also received money from the oil lobby, including from Exxon Mobil.
