I'm just NOT into poetry and never have been. However, I did read "IF" and found it very appropriate. I'd enjoy it more if it were in simple prose form because when I read poetry I can't avoid the "sing-songy" rhythm, which really distracts completely from the message. But, that's just me....

IF by Kipling was one of the ways I helped to raise our sons. I'm from a family of all girls, and our Mom and Dad. My Dad was the one that told all of us about that poem.

He learned it in the 8th grade he said....I wonder how many kids learn that poem in school today?

MM, I have an "If" for young women somewhere around here that I have given to all my granddaughters on their sixteenth birthdays. I think it is a beautiful message to guide them in their future lives.

I have one nine year old granddaughter and one great granddaughter, one year old, to pass it on to so going to make sure their Mom's remember as they have a long way to go for their presentation of it, just in case I cannot do it myself.
