Ouch. I hope not. This country never got to the depth of totalitarian regime that Russia has been to. Shrub had very mild totalitarian tendencies. He was pretty dumb, and just drew a picture of the enemy - Osama - for the average Joe 6p to hate (and forget their economic troubles). It worked for him - boosted popularity. He went to Iraq cause that's what his dad did when things weren't good (recession). -g- Geez, the plutocracy. Everyone is outraged by WS bailout. WS and GS buying the gubberment. Every country has it. GS owns all important governments, not just the US government -g- Had he been like a dictator, the war in Iraq would have been finished in a year, by genocide. Stalin did it. It works. The whole Warsaw pact was like that. Kill off half of the population of a country and the rest will live in fear. Now, Gorbachev did tear down the German Wall, and the Germans were eternally helpful to post-Soviet, and very criminal, Russia -g-
