C'mon Dave! Bush was arresting CLOWNS that planned to bring down the Brooklyn Bridge with CUTTING TORCHES! There were those crack heads they arrested in Florida that the undercover guy had convinced to be come terrorists! The Bush operation was strictly public relations public conning. These guys recently were a serious, connected to AQ operation.

"We heard this about every significant attempt that was broken up under the Bush administration." Because they were. This was very different. For example, do you really believe those guys were going to take down that bridge with blow torches and no one would notice? Or the pot heads in Florida would really destroy the Sears Tower while dressed in their al Qaeda uniforms? Or that someone could really drag in a couple of cooler loads of chemicals and equipment into an airline toilet and spend the hours required to produce those liquid explosives? This plot could work. It was based on other successful plots and the person involved had the actual training needed to pull it off. The other clowns didn't have any of this.
