I think the Nobel people gave him the prize, so, as the most powerful person on Earth, he'd feel obligated to actually EARN it.

This may not be far from wrong.

This is the Nobel Committee trying to influence American foreign policy.

Unfortunately, it is very likely to have the desired effect.
