Here is the truth about derivatives. This is US report. The
notional values grew as I expected due to printing (maybe not
as fast as I expected -g-), while the
real values contracted. The market is more controlled than ever,
with Goldman being a major, major participant, not surprisingly.
What is surprising is how much levered Goldman is. They are
about up there with BAC, a bit behind JPM, but the ratio to
Risk Based capital is much, much higher at Goldman than at
JPM, BAC, C, or WFC. They must
be very sure of themselves. See pages 13, and then 22-24 <g>
