I love driving in the snow.. but freezing rain ... had some tough experiences coming back from Ottawa on he old 16 to Toronto but no mishaps.. I really get amazed at folks that don't slow down in freezing rain.. My experience is the road tells you.. steering gets a little skittish at a certain speed and you just NEED to drop maybe 10 klicks or so until the steering feels 'right' unless of course you get the real thick stuff then all bets are off.. On the way to Ottawa from Montreal a few years back we were being passed by many drivers and wife wants to know why I'm going so slowly as typically I'm anything but pokey.. Conditions I tell her.. so the next dozen or so vehicles that pass us I tell my wife to note them... we'll see them again I bet, I tell her.. Sure enough a third were in the ditch further up and all but one besides those were crawling much more slowly later on (guess they got a scare :o)

Yes the black ice is the worst.. but on the 401 say you learn to recognize the most likely spots.. but always use you head...

Snow is fun though ... but you need to be prepared.. :O)
