I noticed Obama seems to respond when Jon Stewart speaks - he just promised gays to end 'don't ask - don't tell' not long after Stewart told him to 'chow down' and 'get that off his plate'. Course he didn't say how or when he'd change the current policy, its one of those promises ...

But whats interesting is the Stewart connection. I'd look for more urging of Obama to the left from him.


Stewart is a good comic because he can crystalize ideas that are in the air and say whatever he wants about them. And he speaks for the young left, a core Obama constituency. I wouldn't be surprised if the WH listens to Stewart more than Leno or Letterman, if for no other reason than their young staffers listen to him and report what he says.
