I think it middle of the road to boot the UN out of our country.

We can participate with them at an arm's length.

It's a good idea, the UN is, however it's execution is terrible.

This post is 100% accurate.

The problem isn't the concept of a UN. It is execution. It is performance. It is the bureaucracy.

The UN, in this case the IAEA, will stand idly by, claiming it is acting, e.g., to stop Iran from getting nukes, while giving it month after month until one day we wake up and they're testing a nuke.

There is just no way to get the parties at the UN to come together on important matters. And the result is stagnation and an inability to accomplish a damned meaningful thing.

"I think it middle of the road to boot the UN out of our country."

Great plan Jeff! If you think we have trouble with the UN NOW, imagine how they'd be if we kicked them out of the country and they relocated to, say, France!

You extreme right wing clowns will never get it, but other economies are coming up behind us FAST. China's GDP growth is THREE TIMES ours, and has been for the last decade. The European Union's is LARGER than ours. India's is growing by leaps and bounds.

The days of our hegemony are fading fast. We'd be wise to remake ourselves as a peaceful, friendly world citizen among equals. Obama gets it. W didn't - he wanted to return to the fifties.

There are two possible fates for us. Spain after the defeat of the Armada, or Britain after WWII. I know which one I'd choose.
