If you look at what is put forward as "intelligent design", it's a long way from a seed of life that evolves through random chance. I think most scientists might accept a "life seed" planted by God or aliens or random chance as a possible theory, but would insist that after that evolution proceeded (and STILL proceeds) through billions of years of "random chance", as you put it. I'd call it natural selection, not at all random.

No bible thumper has put forward such a theory, as far as I'm aware.

"At what point do you discount intelligent design and put your faith in random chance?"

Again, ID isn't science. It can't be.
