Bud has written for the state of Montana about his trapping experiences. They gave him a grant to do it, and I've seen his draft. I haven't seen the published version yet.

When I went to his place last May I met the Director of the Montana State Historical Society coming out, and had a fifteen minute chat with him.

Bud is one of the few people I know who recognizes the historical value of his own experience and life. He's gone to a great deal of trouble to document it. He was an outstanding photographer, and has over 10,000 photos logged in a private offline database with a little sound file attached to each where he describes who and what is in the picture. Search on ManyMoose and you get over a dozen pictures. It's really quite amazing.

One of the difficulties of working for him is that you sit around telling stories until the day is well along. Sometimes you don't log any time until after lunch. But it's worth it. When you tell your story, he listens. When he tells his, you remember it.
