I mean I don't read things from my friends that might upset me. :) we have differences. generally we don't talk of such things over supper, online they are more exposed. if that does not clear it up, I will pm. but, yes, the mountain lands of Alabama and TN, especially, were strongly union. they had no slaves and were not interested in the works of the plantation owners of the flatlands. they were loyal to the 'old flag'. they tried to stay nuetral, not wanting to fight their neighbors, but then the rich folk did that conscription thing and sent in brutes to inforce it, to the point of death. yes... there is much not known about the mountain people. :)
