Amir, I have been told the WSJ 10/27/89 has an article by Fed governor Heller suggesting that the fed should intervene in the event of a severe mkt braek. it's in the op ed section. I will hunt it down when I find the time. If anyone subscribes to WSJ interactive edition you might find it in their archives. I would not be surprised if the Fed did come to the rescue. It would take some guts, but the next mkt meltdown a gunslinger might want to buy an index call in the hopes that Uncle Al would come to rescue via the futures mkt. Mike
