AMD appears to be a quarter or more ahead of schedule as far as progressing toward profitability.

Ha! Which schedule is that Jim? Hector promised profitability in Q4 of 2007, then Q4 of 2008.

Jim,

Re: AMD appears to be a quarter or more ahead of schedule as far as progressing toward profitability.>

I continue to be cautiously optimistic.

After two full quarters of separation between GloFo and AMD things are starting to look better. Clearly there's a way to go yet.

In the Q2 CC Rivet said we have not given up on our goal to be breakeven, cash flow positive in the back half of the year, etc. It looks to me like AMD Product Company went cash flow positive in Q3.

Rivet said "We are now operating at a sustainable business model," .

It seems to me that both the CPU and GPU businesses are in better shape than they've been in years.

GloFo seems to be starting to get it's act together more quickly than I'd envisioned. STMI and ARM announced as future customers, and it looks like CHRT may also join, eventually.

After Hours trading didn't seem to like the announcement as much as I did. We'll see, over the course of the next week or so what the full market thinks.

It's starting to like this earnings season is going to be ugly.
