Gergen is one of the most respected individuals in this country and has worked for both Dem and R administrations. His opinion is very valued. Gergen is a mellow centrist, which means he is not going to disagree that much with leftists (Begala) or rightists (absent from the show). We need more mellow centrists. Having said that, Gergen strongly disagrees when he strongly disagrees which is fairly frequently. By you own omission, you say you don't watch the show but you KNOW that there are no rightists on the show. Ever wonder why the conservative movement is in such disarray in this country? That itself makes the show - and the whole CNN weak(er). They have people who are not conservatives representing the conservative point of view. Gergen is a good example of that. Another person they used to have is Gloria Borger (sp?). They are both fine centrists, to misrepresent them as conservatives is a diservice to CNN. I see. The head of the tea baggers isn't a conservative? Bruce Bennett isn't a conservative? Alex Constanellos [sp] isn't a conservative? Ed Rollins isn't a conservative? Wow! Who knew? You best tell those guys because they claim they are conservatives. BTW neither Gergen nor Borger are presented as conservatives. CNN used to be more centrist, and let both points of view to be represented - even under Ted Turner - which made for more interesting television. They seem to be looking for a left wing niche, but MSNBC beat them to it. As far as I can tell, they still do it. Of course, you're the expert because you watch them infrequently.I look at the ratings coming out of Neilsen......Fox News is on top but the other cable stations are doing very well. As a minority, wingers have one station and they all flock to it. Liberals and independents have many more choices......so their numbers for any one station will not be as impressive. That doesn't make them losers. Fox routinely beats CNN and MSNBC combined, meaning they get a lot more independents than CNN and MSNBC combined and some liberals as well. CNN ceded the center, and is fighting for scraps on the left, where every one else is (including broacast networks). I repeat.......wingers have one station to watch and that's the one they watch. God forbid they watch anything else and learn the truth.
