This confirms rumors that Zenith will be introducing 64" HDTVw and 32" SDTVw sets in 1998. The timing and pricing are the real shockers.. April 1998 and only about $1,000 more than current analog sets. This translates to about $4,000 for the projection model and about $2,000 for the direct-view model.

Note that Zenith also will have exclusive distribution rights to Divx DVDs in the April time frame too.

My read is that the first content will be delivered by the satellite companies like DISH and that HBO will be the first HDTV content provider. Wimbeldon on HDTV, can't wait...CBS offering the Masters in HDTV mode next year too...

This certainly is the biggest HDTV announcement ever made. Did I say double up?
