The only retirement plan are children. That because it is them who will work and contribute to the social security coffers from which the older generation draw income as they stop working.

If you live in the suburb or the real countryside and are not a farmer but rather commute to the big city then you are doomed. You will not be able to afford the trip to work.
But if you live in the big city, your view of sunsets may indeed be removed but jobs are there, without the monstrous energy cost of the trip to work. Hong Kong, New York, London, Paris,these giant cities are models for the future.
