:) It is lonely and scary, but I reckon we all get that role sooner or later and do our best to muddle through it. I got it earlyish in a way... when I speak of the alabama boys, I was in my mid-30's and all of a sudden all these teen boys were around here. I was childless and I was... like huh? but they were clearly searching... and... I was dang... responsibility. laughing... sageish is it. what do you say? when do you just listen and nod your head? when do you just stick a hammer in their hands and point and say "fence to do"? It's worth it though, aye? and yes they will all be gone at some time. and the stories with them. we can but gather as many stories as we can in the time we have and pass them along as a link that holds us all together. or something like that.
