The other day on my drive back from the lake, I stopped in Waco at a Burger King. It was my first fast food in months. I don't drink soft drinks or fried foods either, so I ordered the double WHopper meal, figuring in for a penny, in for a pound-- or several.

I sat outside-- the weather is glorious here right now- and put a ton of salt on the fries, which contrasts wonderfully with the diet coke, and then devoured everything.

I had hoped I would feel disgust and repulsion, maybe have to run to the bathroom for immediate rectification by a system adjusted to fresh vegetables and minimal calories.

But no.... it tasted fantastic. I felt satisfied and content. the way a true American should feel. And the caffeine in the coke kept me awake the rest of the way home.

INdeed, it's a dangerous threat that makes you feel that good..
