that's why we have been saying for the last 5 years not to use margin in PMs.

the short position is bigger than long positions , so screw em. i'm not worried about the shorts.

there is volatility in all investments. get used to it. if it bothers you, don't trade.

volatility is good for trading!

It seems that if they thought gold was topping they wouldn't want it as collateral. It could be interpreted as an endorsement of gold, but surely there are other interpretations. It also sounds like a disincentive to taking delivery if one can use it for margin. Better than trying to lease it out for a fraction of a fraction of a percent. That said, I have no experience with futures trading.
