I guess with skiing I always felt that I could control the variables enough that I didn't need a helmet.

Interesting. We learned how to "fall" in order to minimize the damage. Don't remember too many head injuries but broken necks were what I remember.

Didn't Natasha Richardson die from a head injury while standing in a ski line in Canada?
