<<<<<<I spoke to a broker at Dean Witter to ask them if they consider CPQ a good buy at these prices and his answer was a difinitive yes.

....ms. garzarelli was on the tube and in response to a question about the sector in general said that they were looking to buy at these levels.

<<<<<<<I notice Maria isn't on today, that's a good sign for the markets
....bob pisani isn't as pretty but he is a good reporter.

........market should be up today. but garzarelli said that if this is like 87 it will wax and wane for 6 weeks!!!!! more buying opportunities.

Rosemary,
A new (much larger) Barnes and Noble opened up in our area the other day. They have a Starbucks cafe, and being a coffee lover I cruise on down with my wife, get a grande coffee, and hit the magazine section (which happens to be the size of Compaq Center in Houston). I pick up a copy of Individual Investor magazine, and the first article is authored by WHO ELSE BUT MARIA BARTIROMO $#@#%$ I can't take it anymore, she 'ain't' a writer, the article was full of quotes by WS pundits! Anyway, on a more serious note, I was thinking about the possibility of CPQ buying SGI the other day myself, and I really wonder what the advantages might be. From my understanding, SGI is in trouble because the WINTEL boxes are encroaching on it's turf. When MERCED comes out, that trouble will get MUCH WORSE. So, other than those wonderful movie machines, what does SGI really have to offer that will give CPQ an edge in the future? I know they are also into high end UNIX servers, but again, WINTEL is eating away at that market just like those servers ate away at the S/370 mainframe market. Opinions welcome!!

John

CPQ share holders there is a conspiracy, read carefully the following:
CPQ and DELL were downgraded 2 days agowhen they were trading almost at their lowest. The same thing happens over and over again, they first sell their stock, let it fall to the bottom, then downgrade it, to scare people off (US, you and me) , and make us sell at the bottom, which is when they buy. This happened with IBM, when IBM fell from 160 to 132, they down graded it (when IBM announced they would not meet expectations)at the bottom, they downgraded it, causeing a 2-3 day selloff that brought it to 127 for a few minutes, then they covered their short positions, bought long and ralleyed to todays price (before the split) which is approx 200!!! the same thing happened to Intel not so long ago, when they announced that they may not meet expectations, the stock was dropped sharply, then at the bottom it was downgraded, and guess what, when we were busy selling they quietly lowered the expectations, bought and guess what, INTC suddenly met the expectations..... this is a scam.
About CPQ, on the last day before the earnings report, after the close of the market, these wonderful analysts, who obviously enjoy illegal inside information, announced that they are increasing the expectations for CPQ, so that when they came they did not meet them. everyone paniced, and forgot that it also announced a split. This was planned months in advance, and had perfect timing. they knew that a stock split announcement + good earnings would propell CPQ much higher and they were not ready, they wanted our shares before it goes up. Well it happened again, on thursday, an analyst downgraded CPQ and lowered the expected earnings, at which point, they want us to sell, but I noticed tremendous accumulation at the bottom prices. They are buying every stock that sells, then, when the price goes up, they sell short to bring the stock down (the market makers are exempt from the down tick rule for selling short.....)when the stock is in their buying range, they cover and accumulate. Historically, it takes 3 days to accumulate, at which point they start moving the stock highr, then short again ,and so forth.
I am a technical analyst, and I see very good action on CPQ. Remembe it is still splitting on January... right now it is selling at wholesale prices. HOLD ON, don't get sucked into the selling.

Also: Intel's announcement of a price drop of 20% will allow them to build faster machines for less, and lower prices again, which will boost sales. At these rates Intel is almost giving the chips away... Even at $1000 per system, they make very good margins, this price cut will enable them to sell systems for $800 and $900, which is very affordable. People will upgrade or buy gifts for Christmas , and lately people have more money then last year.

the bottom line is I am very pleased to know CPQ has been downgraded at its lows. in 1 month people would cry saying I wish I had bought some, mark my words.
