I started to traverse a sidehill while mule deer hunting in WY. It's was extremely steep with about a 6" semi flat spot that I was using. I could reach my right hand out and touch the upslope and it was no better going down and I was about 85' from the bottom of the gorge. I made it but never tried a stunt like that again. Dumb, dumb, dumb. I was probably 4 miles off the nearest forest road and for all intents nobody knew where I was other then generally. Kind of place where a broken leg could be fatal.

I'm much more careful today in all aspects of my life.

If we fall off a cliff or something (possible, but unlikely because of our caution) the agreement is: Take the pistol but leave the body 'cause we're where we want to be and the pistol is too good to waste.

Good rule.
