Well, I cut Bush a little more slack. 9/11 DID happen on his watch, it was his responsibility to protect us, and he failed.

That said, America was asleep, fat and happy. Sure, we had a tiny little recession - but in general, after the BOOMING Clinton '90's, Americans were so smug they elected relatively unknown W instead of the bottom half of the team that had delivered the best economic decade in my lifetime along with Monica's BJ.

Bin Laden took advantage of the slumber and delivered a masterwork of terrorist performance art. He'll be remembered FAR longer than George W. Bush.

Bush, AFTER 9/11, beat his chest and delivered some tough talk, that he'd "hunt bin Laden down dead or alive" and that he'd "smoke him out of his cave". His real failure was, as the person commanding the most powerful military on the planet, for not bringing bin Laden to justice with it in EIGHT YEARS.
