Those darned funerals are definitely the worse part. The last real funeral (of a family member) I went to was in 1979 when my dear Grandfather died. Everyone else that was a relative of mine didn't want one. I did go to a memorial service for my Step Grandfather, but no one liked him much and it was a joyous kind of wake thing after the pastor got through with his stuff.

I also attended a very strange "burial" for my Mother. We snuck her in to the cemetery where her beloved husband was buried. Stood around with her ashes for a bit then my hubby finally stooped down, dug a little hole with a garden spade, and put her right next to him. We said our goodbyes and all went for a drink.

I often wonder if the grounds keepers ever found her as I wasn't so sure that hole was deep enough and could have been exposed by the rain.

;)
