"If you haven't even bothered to listen to the audio then really: you have nothing to add to the conversation."

Even coming from you that must rank as one Hell of a dumb statement! To suggest that I need to listen to whatever his name was in order to share my extensive knowledge of the topic being discussed (the personal nature of God) is to go from dumb to dumber.

Christianity DID NOT invent THE personal God. It simply invented A personal God.

As to whether or not the Christian God is a personal God, well that is undisputed. The bible doesn't fudge on that point. I believe (for one example of thousands) that "for God so loved the world" is still part of any Christian bible, of any sect.

"God is merely an idea like the unicorn.."

you reply..."So now we are going to be treated to more juvenile and misinformed nonsense from our local village atheist"

There is NOTHING juvenile or misinformed about the comment that God is merely an idea like the unicorn is an idea. There have been thousands of god "ideas"--most of them originating in a very small group or tribe and expanding to wherever an adequate meme and/or brutal force or persuasion can take them. It is unfortunate that you are capable of speaking fairly accurately about the Christian religion but you are entirely at sea when it comes to assessing the Truth and Value of your comfort religion. You probably think the thousands of other religions (including the Christian sects who are misinformed ;-)) are products of Satanic influence?! You do believe in Satan--RIGHT!!?
