i do not recommend buying stocks or PMs on margin. this is dangerous imho.

on the few occasions that i have used margin, i have had very close stops.

i am old school. when everyone was buying expensive homes with mortgages, i bought inexpensive homes without a mortgage. gradually i stepped up into more expensive houses.

now everyone is avoiding mortgages, and now i am on the bandwagon to get a fixed long term mortgage, which i recently did. ,..., and i don't need a mortgage. i guess i will always be in the minority.

to me it's a slam dunk. if you can afford it, and i can, you get a low rate, long term, fixed mortgage.

good luck to both of us.
