Oh..........I remember the good times, and there were quite a few, but only when Dad was home. He spent most of his time at sea (to get away from the "old bag" gg) and I didn't understand why, until I was an adult. I would have done the same.

In retrospect, I think Mom was schitzo. We never knew who we'd meet when we walked through the door, but she did have her lucid moments, and when she did, we had fun. It was the parental guidance and neglect that was hardest on us kids.

That and the fighting between our parents.

One night when I was about 10 my parents came into our bedroom, woke us up and told us to pack our bags.........we were going to Yellowstone. It must have been 2 am, but we didn't care. It was an adventure, and the whole family was going together.

We had a wonderful time, and Mom was on her best behavior. I think Dad being gone a lot was really hard on her.
