Oprah Buys Everyone Free KFC, Chickens Everywhere Cry Fowl:

Remember that special Oprah had last year addressing the “dark side” of chicken factory farming? The same one that helped earn her PETA’s 2008 “Person of the Year” Award? Yea, well, we don’t see a repeat performance anytime soon.

On Oprah today, the host announced that she was hooking up with Kentucky Fried Chicken to give away a free two-piece Kentucky Grilled Chicken meal to every family in America. Obviously, this is going to come as a shock to PETA — who is in the middle of a renewed campaign urging KFC to change the way its suppliers treat their chickens. Famous folks like Pamela Anderson, Sir Paul McCartney, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, The Rev. Al Sharpton, and countless others have signed on to boycott KFC.

Some will argue that this is a free meal — and in a time of economic hell, any food is good food. It just bothers me that with everything Oprah has done to bring attention to the plight of chickens and animals in factory farms, that she would approach a chain like KFC to give people a free meal. Why not give something relatively healthy like a free salad instead?

Let me get this straight. We've spent $194 Billion, but the other ~$600 Billion is going to pvoed only a marginal improvement. Which begs the question, "Why spend it?"

As a corollary, that $194 Billion she says, saved/created at most 1.5 million jobs. At best, that is $129,000 per job.

Nice jobs for the average guy.

Romer: Impact of stimulus will level off

By JIM KUHNHENN (AP) – 7 hours ago

WASHINGTON — A top White House economist says spending from the $787 billion economic stimulus has already had its biggest impact on economic growth and will likely not contribute to significant expansion next year.

Christina Romer, the chair of President Barack Obama's Council of Economic Advisers, said Thursday that the $194 billion already spent gave a jolt to the economy that contributed to growth in the second and third quarters of the year. She told a congressional panel that by the middle of next year, the impact of the stimulus will level off. Romer said spending so far has saved or created 600,000 to 1.5 million jobs but warned that unemployment will remain high, above 9.5 percent, through the end of 2010.

Would their ticket prices make a difference? I think you're getting desparate to justify your envy.

Taking money out of Oprah's pocket or Tigers doesn't make anyone any better off.

Thought about this some more and was thinking RW illustrates leftwinger "thinking". He doesn't know why he wants to tax away most of Oprah's income. When pressed, all he can do is stammer out crap about tickets for her show being more widely available or affordable or something.

As if he doesn't know TV shows income comes from ad revenue, not ticket sales or that her show is available for free viewing on tv.

Clearly, RW's inability to explain why he wants to tax away most of the income of people who make more than him shows leftists are driven not by rational concerns, but poorly understood emotional ones. Envy, resentment, hatred - thats what drives the left.
