This "stimulus" has finally put to rest the idea that you can spend your way out of a recession.

You are kidding right?

The recession started December '07 and Bush and you guys didn't even know it, "The economy is sound and growing" was your mantra. "Great times". Kept getting worse and worse and worse until it was in heart attack mode with the entire financial sector seizing up and the auto companies failing. The Fed and Treasury (rightly) panicked and asked for funds and power, and the Dem congress said "of course" (despite cries of "NO! NO! NO!" from the far right). When Obama and his team came in everything was still frozen and Bush looked like a deer in the headlights. They masterfully implemented TARP and the auto company loans and did well with the stimulus, and saved million of jobs and the multiplier effect that would have had. They saved us from depression. It's indisputable.

They are going to write economic textbooks about these actions and it will be THE model for future financial crisis.

This historic episode alone makes Obama one of our best US Presidents. If Bush were in office none of us would be working right now.
