Mark -

Indeed. The ramifications of the legalization of drugs would be huge. For one thing, the government could have a new tax stream. For another, a lot of the money now going to violent gangs all over the world, to poppy farmers in Afghanistan, etc., would flow instead to legitimate businesses.

We could create jobs here, increase tax revenues, and undercut criminal enterprises worldwide.

It's for those reasons that people like William F. Buckley, Jr. supported the idea.
