He isn't from the South...........

Brett Baier's strange description of Ken Feinberg

by Jed Lewison

Thu Oct 22, 2009 at 06:10:04 PM PDT

A reader pointed out a very weird moment on Fox earlier today: Fox anchor Brett Baier describing Kenneth Feinberg, the Obama Administration's Special Master for compensation as being "obviously not from the South."

Watch:

What did Baier mean with his "obviously not from the South" comment? Was it a dig? A compliment? Was he calling attention to Feinberg's background?

Most importantly, what possible relevance did Baier's comment have to the issue at hand, executive compensation for TARP recipients? Is it the kind of comment you would expect to hear on a real news program? Or is it the kind of thing you'd expect from somebody with a certain perspective?

Of course it sounds this way to you. Because ideologically, you can't accept that preventive treatment doesn't automatically improve outcomes, nor does it save money. It is what I've been trying to tell you for a long time.

I heard about this a few days ago on CNN...the study is bringing into question the effectiveness of PSA screenings...ie: the assumption that it does in fact detect prostate cancer early enough may be misplaced....doesn't mean that early detection does not improve survivability in most forms of cancer. Ovarian cancer is another beast altogether...it is lethal in most forms...a} because it is a deadly form of cancer..and b} because there are no effective early screens...I know about this from personal experience in my family.
