Lucius-

I got burned by Scwab too... I lost 10% of my net worth as a result of being unable to place trades the morning of the recent market crash.

I read that Schwab has a new recommendation for assuring trades on heavy volume days.. that is to drive to your local branch where your trade is assured. This is the height of idiocy. My local branch is 2 1/2 hours away. This recommendation is so ludicrous that it only can be a viewed as preemptive position that Schwab is taking against the inevitable litigation arising from their breach of investor trust.

I'm looking for ways to recoup my losses because of Schwab's ineptitude. Maybe I should:

1. Transfer my accounts to a credible and capable brokerage house.
2. Sell Schwab stock short.
3. Wait for everyone else burned by this company to do the same.

Lucius, You don't understand the concept of insurance. You buy insurance to protect yourself. Don't expect others to take out insurance to protect your interest. This is called taking control or personal responsibility. A problem in the US today is too many people look to others to take care of them ie. big Government.

I went to a popular restaurant Monday night that offers great service and delicious food. They advertise that right in the yellow pages. Well, when I arrived there was a convention in town and they were booked for the night. Would not seat me. Well am I going around whining that I was denied my right to a meal and great service. Some lawsuit happy lawyer would probably try to find a case here especially if a minority was envolved.

Schwab may lose some customers over this. They lost some my business to E-Trade because of lower commissions they may lose yours for other reasons. If their is a brokerage house that was not covered up Mon-Tues, I'll show you a broker that doesn't have many customers due to poor everyday performance.

Lucias, I'll let you get back to your "pity party". Hope your house doesn't float away. Too bad you can't sue Mother Nature. She's got deep pockets!

Joe
