It is very interesting to me how much debate there has been -- on this thread and the HC thread -- about what is "lying".

It is a no-brainer to me. When a person makes a statement that he knows to be untrue while having an intent to deceive, that's a lie. If you have an intent to deceive but tell the truth, that isn't a lie. And if you tell an untruth but lacked the intent to deceive, it isn't a lie.

This definition is totally consistent with the meaning set out in various definitions.

The Left has corrupted the use of the term. They claim Limbaugh lied, Rove lied, Cheney lied, Bush lied, even Colin Powell lied, and anyone who disagrees with them lies. Reality, none of these lied.

Of course, none of THEIR guys ever lie. Not Obama. Not Axelrod. Not Rahm. "They're all honest".
